WHO CAN REFER

We accept referrals from General Practitioners and other medical practitioners. Whilst we will be able to see patients with referrals from third party online referrers, our preference is to involve, and partner with, our patients regular GP.


Patients may also refer themselves/book an appointment directly, however patients who attend without a referral will not be able to claim a rebate from Medicare for their consultation fee.

How to Make a Referral

A referral letter can be sent to us using the following methods:

We will contact your patient(s) to book an appointment once the referral has been received.


 

Our Availability & Hours

We review new patient referrals daily. We also seek to address Urgent Referrals on the same day, please don't hesitate to call if you have patient concerns.

A general practitioner referral for an initial consultation is valid for 12 months, and specialist referral is valid for 3 months.

Urgent Advice

If you have an urgent question about a bariatric patient or a new cancer patient please call on (02) 49062 8444 and we will endeavour to get back to you as quickly as possible.


If there is a medical emergency, please call 000 and alert Hunter Weight Loss and Upper GI


Urgent patients will be seen as soon as possible. If using a Fax or Email, please highlight your communication as URGENT.

If you need to contact one of our surgeons. Please call on (02) 4062 8444 and they will call you as soon as they are able. Our surgeons are also more than happy to come to your practice and discuss our services and how we can work together for our community.

Referrer Events

Practice visits are available, we would be happy to arrange a practice update visit or a practice tour upon request. Visits can be accommodated Monday to Friday with some exceptions made for outside of office hours visits. Please contact us.
